Abstract

Gunawan. 2020. Analysis of the Teachers’ Barriers in Implementing Curriculum 2013 (A Case Study in English Classes of MTs. NU Salatiga). A Graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department. State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Hammam, M. Pd., Ph. D. Curriculum 2013 currently used has undergone several revisions. Curriculum changes are still considered controversial to implement for several reasons and school conditions. This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing (1) the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in English learning (2) the obstacles experienced in implementing the 2013 curriculum (3) the way teachers do in overcoming obstacles in implementing the curriculum 2013. The type of research used was descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques used are observation, interview and documentation. The results show that (1) Administrative implementation is better than practical implementation. (2) The obstacles experienced by teachers are the allocation of time, unavailability of school facilities, student conditions, and difficulty in changing teaching styles. 3) There are several ways that teachers do in overcoming obstacles in the implementation of the Curriculum 2013, namely by managing subject matter so that time is more efficient, creating creative learning media to overcome the limitations of electronic media, motivating students to be enthusiastic about learning, using discussion learning to create student-centered learning.
