Abstract

Ardiana, Yesy Ashriati. 2020. The Influence of Students’ Motivation and Attitudes in English Learning Toward Their English Achievement at Edi Mancoro Islamic Boarding School. A graduating paper submitted to the board of examiners as partial fulfillment of the requirements for the bachelor degree of Sarjana Pendidikan (S.Pd). English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Heru Saputra, S.Pd.I., M.A. This study is aimed answering the following research questions: (1) How is the influence of motivation in English learning toward students’ English achievement at Edi Mancoro Boarding School? (2) How is the influence of attitude in English learning toward students’ English achievement at Edi Mancoro Boarding School? (3) How is the simultaneous influence of motivations and attitudes in English learning toward students’ English achievement at Edi Mancoro Boarding School? This research was conducted to know and find out the influence of motivation and attitudes in English learning in English learning toward students’ English achievement at Edi Mancoro Boarding School. The subject of this research was students of Kelas Bahasa at Edi Mancoro Islamic Boarding School. It considered 44 students. The methodology of this research is quantitative research. Data collected through students’ response to the questionnaire and report score. There data was tested the validity and reliability using SPSS IMB 25.0, it showed that the instrument was accepted with of the validity and reliable with Sig. >0.3 also the normality test was normaly distributed with sig 0.73> 0.05. The result of the research was found several findings based on the analysis of the students’ test result. There are three results: 1) Motivation has positive influence with sig score 0.036< 0.05 and t count 2.265> t table 2.018, 2) Attitude has no positive influence with sig score 0.805> 0.05 and t count -0.248< t table 2.018, 3) Motivation and attitude simultaneously have positive influence and significant with sig score 0.019< 0.05 and value of f count 4.342> f table 3.219 and have 17.5% contribution toward English achievement. So, the influence of students’ motivation and attitudes in English learning toward their English achievement at Edi Mancoro Islamic Boarding School was positive and significance.
