Abstract

Syafitri, Dhea Dwi. 2020. Descriptive Analysis of Code-Switching in Teaching Learning Process of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Classroom. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies of Salatiga. Counselor: Norwanto, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D. The objective this study were 1) To find out the type of code-switching used in teaching-learning process of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. 2) To find out the dominant type of code- switching in teachinglearning process as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. 3) To find out the function of the use code-switching in teaching learning process of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. This study used descriptive qualitative research. The data collected by classroom observation and questionnaire. The participants of this study were English Teacher and 21 students of eleventh grade of SMA Muhammadiyah (Plus) Salatiga. The result of the data analysis showed that the student s and the teacher used all types of code-switching. They are tag-switching (24 data), Inter-sential switching (30 data), and Intra-sential switching (232 data). The dominant types used in this research is intra sential switching because the researcher found lot of data used intra sential switching. The result also showed the function of the use code-switching in this research is very helpful for students to understand the material and make easier to communication between students and teacher.
