Abstract

The objectives of this research are to describe the technique and how the teachers apply the technique to overcome students’ difficulty in vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade students of MTs Negeri 12 Boyolali in academic year 2020/2021. The methodology of this research was descriptive qualitative research with case study approach which the writer analyzed the data from conducting research with several theory. The subject of this research were two English teachers who teach English at the seventh grade of MTsN 12 Boyolali. The data were collected using interview and documentation. The finding from this study shows thatboth teachers at MTs N 12 Boyolali used various technique in teaching vocabulary. The technique that are used by both teacher are making a list of vocabulary, looking up at the dictionary, playing games, and singing a song. The first teacher applies the technique always reminding the students to always write a vocabulary list during English class, bring and open the dictionary. The second teacher applies the technique by inviting the students to guess the pictures and play games by mentioning the vocabulary through the initial letters of the vocabulary. These technique help the students to get easier, faster, and more enjoyable ways to improve their vocabulary. So, the technique that are used by both of teachers really support the teachers to overcome students’ difficulty in vocabulary mastery.
