Abstract

ABSTRACT THE ROLE OF ACADEMIC SUPERVISION FROM SUPERVISOR AND HEAD MASTER TO IMPROVE PEDAGOGIC COMPETENCE OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION TEACHER AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Budi Arif Muzayyin SD N Traju 02 Bumijawa Tegal budiarifmuzayyin33@gmail.com Supervision is an important activity in conducting education process. It is intended to control all educational activities through directing, supervising, developing, and managing them to reach the education goals. Thus, it will result better education quality. It was qualitative research that used descriptive approach. The writer conducted observation, documentation and non restricted interview to gain the data. Analytic deduction approach proposed by Milles and Habermen was used to analyze the data. This research showed that the implementation of academic supervision conducted by supervisors was not done maximally because one supervisor should supervise a wide range of teachers and area. In the other hand, the supervised teachers told that supervisions done by supervisor had helped them to improve their pedagogic competence. There were many headmaster who were lack of supervision knowledge and technology competence that impacted their in-maximal supervision process to the teachers. Supervision success done by supervisor and headmaster was good enough but it need some betterment. Problems in conducting academic supervision are categorized into two aspects: structural and cultural. Key word: academic supervision, supervisor and headmaster, pedagogic competence.
