Abstract

The objectives of study is to investigatewhether students’ wrting skills is improved in using“what are you doing” material through word wall as mediaof students of the eighth year at SMP Negeri 2Sumowono. The difficulties to write sentences anddeveloping ideas, poor understanding about grammarand lack of vocabulary, lack of interest in learning tensesmade them confused as writing can be a means forcreation mode in supporting, learning, or testinggrammar structural concepts. Observation checklist andthe test are used to get data of the research. The researchresults showed that the implementation of word wall wassuccessful to improve progressively in eaach of the cycleI and the cycle II by knowing the passing grade, that is70. The result of the mean of the pre-test in the cycle I islower than the mean of the post-test. T-test result incycle I is 13,899, in cycle 2 are 14,668. While the t-test inthe cycle II is higher than the t-test of the cycle I.
