Counselor: Mr. Norwanto, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D. Key Words: Politeness Strategy, Teacher, Students, English Class This research was conducted to analyze the Politeness Strategies used by Teacher and Students in Englishh class.the reseach describe what kinds of politeness strategy used by teacher and what kinds of politeness strategy used by students English class. The subject of this research was an English teacher and students of SMP PGRI Ampel. This is a descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques used in this reearch collected in form of Audio Record and Transkrip data in English Class at SMP PGRI Ampel Boyolali. The result of this research showed that there are four strategies employed by teacher and students in English class. The strategies are bald on record, positive politeness strategy, negative politeness strategy, and off record strategy. From the total teacher used 122utterances, the researcher found 52 were Bald On Record strategy, 15 used Positive Politeness strategy, 42 used Negative Politeness strategy, and 1 used Off Record strategy. The others has no utterances that contains a politeness strategy. Meanwhile, From the total students used 119 utterances, the researcher found 1 used Bald On Record strategy, 7 used Positive Politeness strategy, 3 used Negative Politeness strategy, and 9 used Off Record strategy. The others has noutterances that contains a politeness strategy.
