Abstract

Anjani, Nindhita Febri Ayu. 2021. Semantics Analysis of Connotative Meanings Found in The Comments Section on Indonesia Lawyers Club’s Twitter account. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Conselor: Mr. Faizal Risdianto S.S., M.Hum. This research aimed to find connotative meaning in the comment section on the Twitter Account of Indonesia Lawyers Club. The primary objective of this research is to find out the meanings of connotative phrases in utterances that use in comments, while the second objective is to detect the type of connotation used by netizen in the Twitter account of the Indonesian Lawyers Club, the last objective is to identify the most dominant type of connotation used to comment on the Twitter account of the Indonesian Lawyers Club. The researcher used qualitative analysis as a research method for this research. The researcher used qualitative analysis as a research tool in this study. This study data comes from comments made by Twitter users on the Indonesia Lawyers Club's account. This study of data collection methods is observation and documentation. The researcher first follows Indonesia Lawyers Club on Twitter, then reads and gathers comments with connotative meaning, and finally transcribes all of the connotative meaning used in the comments. The researcher uses the Indonesian Lawyers Club's screenshot comment on the Twitter account to obtain the data. According to the data review findings, there are 58 connotative definitions used in the comments section of the Indonesia Lawyers Club's Twitter account. Positive connotative had 13 comments, followed by negative connotative with 23 comments and neutral connotative with 22 comments. Negative connotative meaning is the most common form of connotative meaning. Keywords: Semantics, Connotative Meaning, Types of Connotative, Twitter Comments.
