Abstract

Mubarokah, Vita Rizki. 2021. An Analysis Of Grice’s Maxims Violation Used By Teacher And Students Interaction On Ninth Grade Students Of Smp Darul Fikr Andong In The Academic Year 2020/2021. A Graduating paper, English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty, State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Mr. Hanung Triyoko, S.S., M.Hum., M.Ed. The objectives of the study are (1) To describe the types of Grice’s maxim violated by teacher and students interaction On Ninth grade students of SMP Darul Fikr Andong in the academic year 2020/2021?. (2) To know the dominant types of Grice’s maxims violated by teacher and students interaction on Ninth grade student of SMP Darul Fikr Andong in the academic year 2020/2021. The researcher employed qualitative research as the research methodology in this study.. The data of this study are interaction between teacher and students on Ninth grade student of SMP Darul Fikr Andong. The data collection of this study are observing and documenting. In analyzing the data, the researcher followed Creswell’s six step of data analysis, they are: 1) data organization and preparation for analysis, 2) examine all of the data, 3) start with a coding approach to have a better understanding of the situation, 4) create a description of the scene or persons, as well as categories or themes for study, using the coding method, 5) plan ahead of time how the description and themes will be represented in the qualitative narrative, 6) determining the data's interpretation or meaning. According to the findings of the study, there were 31 data of Grice’s maxims violation used by teacher and students interaction on ninth grade students of SMP darul fikr Andong. The researcher has found 3 types of grice’s maxims violation used by teacher and students interaction. Namely 15 maxim of quantity, 12 maxim of relation, 4 maxim of manner. It means that the dominant type of Grice’s maxims violation used by teacher and students interaction on ninth grade students of SMP darul fikr Andong is maxim of quantity.
