Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the profile of students in listening skill before and after the use of audio lingual method and podcast media and to know how far the effectiveness of the use of audio lingual method and podcast media is able to improve students’ listening skills. This research is pre-experimental research that uses pre-test and post-test as a measuring tool. Data collection techniques used are tested and documentation. The subjects of this study were the eight grade students of SMP Islam Sudirman 1 Bancak with a total of 22 students and consisted of 16 male students and 6 female students. The data were tested using the Ttest formula by comparing the average score between the pre-test and post-test. The results showed that there was a difference between the pre-test and post-test mean scores and the average score increased by 18,182 from the pre-test average score of 51.363 to 69.545 in the post-test average score. Then the results of the T-test are 4.43 and the score of df = 21, then the table with a significance of 5% is 1.721. So that Ttest is higher than T table (4.43>1.721). So it can be concluded that the use of Audio Lingual Method and Podcast Media can improve students' listening skills.
