Abstract

Maulida, Sofi. 2021. The Influence of Motivation and Self-Esteem on Speaking Achievement (A Correlational Study of the Fifth Semester Student of English Education Department of IAIN Salatiga). Counselor: Dr. Ruwandi, M.A This research aims to find out whether any significant influence and analyze how far its significant influence between motivation and self-esteem on speaking achievement of the fifth semester students of English Education Department at IAIN Salatiga, Academic year 2020/2021. The method which used in this research is quantitative correlational research. The data collection of students' motivation and self-esteem was carried out using a questionnaire. While, the data of speaking achievement taken from the final result of speaking 3 subjects. The data was taken from two different classes randomly, with the total amount of 34 respondents. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that; first, there is no significant influence between students motivation and speaking achievement, where sig. value > 0,05 (0,780 > 0,05) and t count < t table (0,282 < 2,051). Second, there is a significant influence between student self-esteem and speaking achievement, where sig. value < 0,05 (0,024 < 0,05) and t count > t table (2,395 > 2,051). Third, there is a significant influence between student motivation and self-esteem on speaking achievement, where sig. f < 0,05 (0,019 < 0,05) and f count > f table (4,619 > 3,354). So, it can be conclude that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Keywords: Motivation, Self-esteem, Speaking Achievement.
