Abstract

Khamida, Nur Aeni. 2021. An Analysis of Classroom Instruction Reinforcement Strategies used by Lecturers of IAIN Salatiga during Distance Learning. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Faizal Risdianto, S. S., M.Hum. This study discusses reinforcement strategies used by lecturers. This study aims to determine the types and what is the most type of reinforcement strategies used. The methodology used in this study is qualitative. The data was taken from three Whatsapp groups with different lecturers. The researcher used a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the data and then summarized the findings. The result of this research showed that lecturers employ five strategies. The strategies are verbal reinforcement, non-verbal reinforcement, vicarious reinforcement, and qualified reinforcement, and negative reinforcement. From the three lecturers who used 201 utterances, the researcher found 146 Verbal Reinforcement, 8 Non-Verbal Reinforcement, 6 Vicarious Reinforcement, 0 Delayed Reinforcement, 39 Qualified Reinforcement, and 2 Negative Reinforcement. So, the most type of classroom instruction reinforcement strategies used by lecturers of IAIN Salatiga during distance learning is Verbal Reinforcement.
