Abstract

ABSTRACT Kusumastuti, Dini, DiahAyu. 2021. The Evaluation Model Used in Teaching English During the Covid-19 Pandemic at SMP N 2 Tengaran and SMP N 2 Suruh Semarang Regency in the Academic Year 2020/2021. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Aprilian Ria Adisti, M. Pd. The objectives of the study were to analyze the type of evaluation models used by both school SMP N 2 Suruh and SMP N 2 Tengaran during COVID-19. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative methods. The use of this method aims to provide a more detailed and reliable understanding. The collection of data was done by interviewing the English teachers and the school principal from both schools, taking documentation and by observing the school condition. Descriptive analysis method consists of three steps namely data collection, data reduction and data presentation. The results of this research are (1) SMP N 2 Suruh and SMP N 2 Tengaran using goal oriented evaluation models during COVID-19 pandemic, both school were combined offline and online evaluation model.(2) The difficulties faced by both school on implementing the evaluation are; students‘ lack of parents support, not all students have proper gadget, the connection and the poor signal, and the students‘ can‘t afford the internet data (3). The alternative way or the solution on implementing the evaluation are different each school SMP N 2 Tengaran uses blended learning and offline methods as an alternative learning model to support the learning process. Meanwhile, SMP N 2 Suruh used the Home visit learning model to support offline and blended learning activities. Key Words : COVID-19 Pandemic, Learning Evaluation, SMP N 2 Suruh, SMP N 2 Tengaran
