Abstract

This research is aimed to improvethe student’s Reading Comprehension through Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition. The objectives of this research is (1)To find whether the use of CIRC method can improve students’ participation in reading, (2)To find out the improvement of reading comprehension. (3) To find out how far the improvement of students reading comprehension through cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC) method. This research was conducted in the eighth year students of MTsPabelanMagelang the academic year of 2016/2017. The data was gathered through the evaluation test score and documentation study. The result of the study shows that the use ofComprehension through Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition can improve students’ Readingcomprehension. This research used classroom action research (CAR).The process of teaching and learning readingCIRC going well and clearly and most of the students are enthusiastic with CIRC. It can be seen on the result, in the class that most of the students more interested and anxious in the teaching andlearning process. It was seen from the comparative result of the test in each cycle. The improvement of students’ reading was indicated by their score in test. It can be seen from the result of cycle I to the cycle II, where pre-cycle students’ mean on mastery writing was only 46, it increased became 59. In cycle I. In cycle II it increased from 72to 87. The finding shown that the t-test calculation from the result of pre-test and post-test in cycle I is 3,06and in cycle II is 3,17. This mean this research has been completed and shows that CIRCcan improve the students’ reading comprehension, especially in descriptive text. This method can help the students to understand the material easily.
