Abstract

This research is aimed to improve student s‟ writing ability using authentic materials in teaching procedure text. This research analyze how the implementation of the authentic materials in teaching procedure text to improve writing ability. Whether the use of authentic materials can improve writing ability and how far the implementation of the students‟ writing ability at nine grade of SMP N 2 Banyubiru used authentic materials. This research was conducted in SMP N 2 Banyubiru. Twenty nine students of the nine grade of SMP N 2 Banyubiru 2015 were instructed using authentic materials to improve students‟ writing ability. This research used classroom action research (CAR). There were two cycles to give the students more opportunities to improve their understanding about how to effectiveness the passa ge well and actively in discuss. The results show that students‟ writing ability improves significantly. The T- calculation result show that t-calculation of cycle 1 is 4,75 and cycle 2 is 6,89 . This technique uses the students‟ cognitive skill to understa nd the text that they have written. This method can help the students to remember the information and the details of the text. In implementation of authentic materials method the students deepens their understand ing in a text that has been written. .
