Abstract

Munhamiroh. 2018. The Effectiveness of Picture and Project-Based Learning to Teach Writing Skills for Tenth Year Students of MA Al Bidayah Candi Bandungan. A Graduating Paper, English Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty at State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Setia Rini, M.Pd. This research focused on the effectiveness of Picture and Project-Based Learning to teach writing skills for tenth year students of MA Al Bidayah Candi Bandungan.The objectives of the research are: (1) To find out the effectiveness of picture and project-based learning to teach writing skills for tenth year students of MA Al Bidayah Candi Bandungan. (2) To find out the significant of picture and project-based learning to teach writing skills for tenth year students of MA Al Bidayah Candi Bandungan. The approach in this research was quantitative research and the method of this research is true experimental research. The subject of the research are two classes of tenth year students of MA Al Bidayah Candi Bandungan. It consists of 68 students. The data was collected through test; pre-test and post-test. The data was tested using paired-sample t-test in SPSS 16.0. The mean of pre-test is 61.66 and the mean of post-test is 78.45. The differences between pre-test and post-test mean is16.79. The result of SPSS showed that sig. (2-tailed) 0.00 and t-count 27.059. The rule is if sig. (2-tailed) <0.05 and t-table was smaller than t-count, Ha is accepted. T-table showed 2.04841 for df 28 and significancy 5%. Therefore, there was significant different after teaching writing using Picture and Project-Based Learning. It means that Picture and Project-Based Learning was effective for students’ writing skills.
