Abstract

This research is mainly aimed to improve students’ writing skill in recount text using four square writing method. The subject of the research consists of 36 students of the tenth grade at MA AL Bidayah. This research analyzes how the implementation of using four square writing method to improve students’ writing skill in recount text. This research was conducted in MA AL Bidayah Candi Bandungan. Thirthy six students of the tenth grade of MA AL Bidayah were instructed through four square writing method to improve their writing skill. This research method is Classroom Action Research (CAR). There were two cycles and every cycle incude of 4 steps (planning, action, observation, and reflection). The result shows that there is an improvement of students’ writing skill in recount text. The students who get score higher than the passing grade are only 61,12% and 72,2% in the cycle 1 and 77,8% and 91.7% in the cyce II. The calcuation result shows that T-calcuation of cycle I is 4,58 and cycle II is 5,92. This method can help students to create the recount text . Based on the result, the researcher recommends the use of Four Square Writing Method in teaching writing
