English and Education Department State Islamic Studies Institute. Consultant: Faizal Risdianto, S.S, M.Hum. Keywords : Classroom Action Research, Use Metacognitive Strategy, Vocabulary Mastery The purpose of this study was to analyze how are the students’ vocabulary mastery were taught use metacognitive and explain the effectiveness of use metacognitive strategy to enhance students’ vocabulary mastery. The research used descriptive as the research method. The subject of the research were students of class VIII (33 students) of MTs Al-Bidayah Candi Bandungan in academic year of 2013/2014. In order to collect the data, the researcher gave pre test to one class to measure the students vocabulary mastery before learning process. The finding showed that using metacognitive strategy is effective to enhance students’ vocabulary mastery. By the pre test to post test of the students vocabulary mastery of the class which are not taught with metacognitive (63.60). The students vocabulary mastery of the class which are taught with metacognitive strategy showed improvement (70.45). from the t-test result, it can be seen which were taught with metacognitive strategy get score (6.67) it is consulted to t-table with level significant of 5%
