Key words: Numbered Heads Together (NHT) and Vocabulary Mastery. The Aim of this research is to what extend does “Numbered Heads Together (NHT)” use to improve students’ vocabulary mastery on the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Tengaran. The methodology of the study is comparative experimental research, where the researcher as a teacher in teaching learning process, and researcher had a partner as observer in learning activities. The objectives of the study are to what extend does “Numbered Heads Together (NHT)” use to improve the vocabulary mastery, to what extend does “Numbered Heads Together (NHT)” use to improve the students interest in teaching learning process for seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Tengaran. The researcher made two groups that become experiment and control group. The researcher applied test, namely pre-test and post-test. The finding shows that Numbered Heads Together (NHT) can improve vocabulary in teaching learning process. It can be seen by the mean of result in post-test (experiment group) is 80, 1 is higher than control group that has the mean of result is 73, 1. The result of the different mean can be calculated with t-test formula. In this study, the result is compared with the figure that is shown on the t-table. T-table with 5% of the degree of the freedom as n1 + n1 – 2 (31 + 31-2 = 60), shows 2, 00. The calculation difference of rate between both of the groups is 3, 58. It means that there is significant difference between the experiment and control group, so, Numbered Heads Together (NHT) Method in teaching vocabulary is effective.
