Abstract

Syabilla, Zalsa Febrina. 2019. The Influence of Classroom Environment towards Students’ Achievement in Reading Class. A Graduating Paper. English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Mashlihatul Umami, S.Pd.I., M.A. Keywords: Classroom Environment, Students’ Achievement, Reading. The aims of this study were: (1) To know the quality of classroom environment in reading class. (2) To find out whether or not there is any influence of classroom environment towards students’ achievement in reading class. (3) To know how far the classroom environment influences students’ achievement in reading class. The subject of the study consists of 30 students of the first semester students of English Education Department of IAIN Salatiga academic year 2018/2019. This study was designed correlatively and the approach of analysis was quantitative. The techniques of collecting data were questionnaire to assess the classroom environment of students in reading class and documentation such as students’ assignment results to get students’ achievement score. The researcher founds that: (1) The quality of classroom environment in reading class of the first semester students of English Education Department of IAIN Salatiga academic year 2018/2019 was in good level. (2) There is an influence of classroom environment towards students’ achievement in reading class of the first semester students of English Education Department, IAIN Salatiga academic year 2018/2019. It can be concluded from the results of the study that the coefficient correlation of is 0.527. With the degree of significance 5%, the score of r table (rt) obtained is 0.361, therefore, >rt=0.527>0.361, meanwhile, with the degree of significance 1%, the score of rt gained is 0.463, therefore, >rt=0.527>0.463. It means Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. (3) The classroom environment gives moderate influence towards students’ achievement in reading class. Based on the table guidelines of Pearson’s correlation, the final score of is 0.527 existing between 0.40-0.599.
