Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) to find out the difference of speaking skills after the students were taught by using ice breaker and (2) to find out the significant difference of speaking skills after were taught by using ice breaker. This was Experimental Research. The researcher took one group pre-test and post-test or one sample. The instruments of this research were test and non-test. The test type was oral; meanwhile non-test instrument was in the form of document. The samples of this research were 25 students. The data collection method used was test and documentation. The result of this research showed that there was a difference of speaking skills of the eleven grade students after they were taught by using ice breaker technique. It could be proven by the mean of pre-test and post-test. The mean of pre-test was 66 and post-test was 79; and there was a significant difference of speaking skills of the eleventh grade students after they were taught by using ice breaker technique. The result of the t-calculation on the significant level 5% (25.6) is higher than t-table (2.06).
