Abstract
Fauzi, Muhammad Iqbal. 2019. “The Effectiveness of Teaching Reading Narrative Text by Using Structured Dyadic Method (An Experimental Study at The 1st Year Students of MAN Salatiga in the academic year 2018/2019). A Graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department. State Institute of Islamic Studies Salatiga. Consultant: Dr. H. Sa’adi, M.Ag. Key Words: Reading, Narrative Text, Structured Dyadic Method This study deals with the effectiveness of teaching reading narrative text by using structured dyadic method by the 1st year students of MAN Salatiga in the academic year 2018/2019. The objective of the study was to find out the significant positive effectiveness of the students reading narrative text whose are taught and not taught by structured dyadic method (SDM). The method of this research was experimental study and applied random sampling technique, with the total number of the sample was 76 students. The data of this study was taken from using pre-test and post-test by score of questions. The research data were analyzed by using T-test. The formula used to find out the difference between pre-test and post-test. Based on the statistical analysis, it could be seen from the result of mean score of Post-test of X MIPA 4 (control class) is 77.36 higher than pre-test 68.94, and the result of mean score of pos-test X MIPA 2 (experimental class) is 85.39 higher than pre-test 69.34. The level of significance was set equal or less than 5% with the degree of freedom (df) of 37. The result from structured dyadic method (SDM) pointed out that t-test 15,141 was higher than t-table 2,026. Whereas, the result from convensional method designated that t-test 8,174 was also higher than t-table 2,026. If t-table is equal or greater than t-test calculation, so the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and alternative hypotesis (Ha) was accepted. It means, there is significant positive effectiveness mean on pre-test and post-test. This indicated that “Structured Dyadic Method” is effective in teaching reading narrative text at the 1st students of MAN Salatiga in the academic year 2018/2019).
