Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1) To measure and analyze the significant correlation between student’s interests in listening to English songs and their vocabulary mastery. 2) To measure the contribution of student’s interest in listening to English songs, in mastering student’s vocabulary of the tenth grade students of SMK PGRI 1 Salatiga in the academic year of 2019/2020. The methodology of research was quantitative research especially correlativestudy. The techniques of collecting data were questionnaire to find out the students’ interest in listening English songs and vocabulary test to measure student’s vocabulary mastery. The results of the study show that there is a significant correlation between student’s interest in listening English songs and the vocabulary mastery for the tenth grade students of SMK PGRI 1 Salatiga. The correlation result is 0744. These correlation results show that there is a significant correlation between them because r-count more than r-table for N=102 is 0.195. And the total effective contribution of the two variable to the dependent variable is 55,4%. Regarding the result of the research, it can be concluded that vocabulary mastery correlates with student’s interests in listening English songs.
