Abstract

Khoirina, Nur Laila. 2019. Using Speaking Bingo Game to Improve Students' Speaking Ability for The Seventh Grade Students at SMP Muhammadiyah Salatiga in The Academic Year 2019/2020. This research aims to find out the implementation and to to measure the extent of the improvement using speaking bingo game to improve students’ ability in speaking for the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Salatiga in the academic year 2019/2020. The participants of this research are 20 students. The method of this research was classroom action research. The research consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of four steps, they were; planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The research consisted of two cycles and each cycle of three parts, such as; pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data collected were qualitative but also supported by quantitative data. The qualitative data were gained through observation, documentation and short videos. Meanwhile, the quantitative data was collected from the test. The researcher used SPSS 16.00 for analyzing the test. The researcher finds that there is an improvement on students’ speaking ability after treatment by using speaking bingo game in cycle I and cycle II. It can be seen from the cycle I up to the cycle II. In the cycle I, the mean of post-test is higher than the mean of the pre-test. The mean of post-test is 61.8 and pre-test are 57.0. In the cycle II, the mean of post-test is higher than the mean of the pre-test. The mean post-test is 72.0 and pre-test are 65.6. The improvement of students speaking ability using speaking bingo game is significant. The significance can be seen from T-test. The result of T-test in cycle I is 4.485 and cycle II is 6.025. Moreover, the t-test in the cycle II is bigger than the t-test of the cycle I. From the result, the researcher concluded that using speaking bingo game can significantly improved the seventh-grade students’ ability in speaking at SMP Muhammadiyah Salatiga.
