Abstract

The aims of this study are: (1) finding out the different effectiveness of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Getasan, (2) finding out the significant the effectiveness of simulation and role-play techniques to teach speaking of EFL Learners of SMA N 1 Getasan. The data collections method used in this research were: (1) testing, (2) documentation. The data collected use analized statisticelly by SPSS. Version 16. The findings of the research are: (1) there was no different effectiveness on speaking of simulation technique and role-play technique of EFL learners by measured by pre-test and post-test and both simulation and role-play. In XIPA2 class the pre-test score is 66.19 after the intervention the post-test score is 76.23 while in the XBHS class the pre-test score is 65.66 and post-test score is 75.52. (2) there was no significant effectiveness students speaking of simulation and role-play, it can be seen in the result of t-test after the intervention. The result of ????0 of pretest scores of experimental and comparison groups was 0.891 with ????1 was 2.026 with significant (2 tailed) 0.384 and df 20. Its means that ????0 was lower than ????1 (0.891 < 2.026). Thus Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Than the result of ????0 post-test socres of experimental and comparison groups was 0.929 and ????1 was 2.026 with significant (2 tailed) 0.364 and df 20. It means ????0 was lower than ????1 (0.929 < 2.026). Thus Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. The significant of ttable is 95% from degree of freedom (df) 20. Based upon the explanations and analysis above, the researcher concludes that both simulation and role-play are good tecniques. It means that both techniques are good to be applied to improve the speaking of the tenth grade students of SMA N 1 Getasan in the academic year of 2019.
