Abstract

The aims of this research are to study about the effectiveness of role playmethod «i improve students speaking skill in transactional and interpersonal text(an experimental research of the tenth grade students or· MA Sultan Agung Blorain the academic year 2011/20 l 2). The methodology of the study is expcrimc.ualresearch. The objectives of the study are to find out the pro Ii le of speaking skill ofexperiment class of tenth year students of MA Sultan Agung Blora taught by roleplay, to find out the profile speaking skill of control class of tenth year students ofMA Su.tun Agung Blora who are not taught by role play, to find out t~1csignificance difference of the effectiveness of speaking sk ill taken fromtransactional and interpersonal text by role play. The writer compares two groupsof sample and gives them pre-test before the trcatrncn, and post-test af•er thetrcatmci l. 13ased on the research, the calculation of mean who are not taught byrole play is 60,J and 60, 7 before they get treatment; it means that the is nodifference. And after the treaur.ent, the means are 66,4 and 77,8. It means thatthere is an influence of the treatment. And the significance influence is s.iown bythe calculation oft-test 0, 15 with is the lower than t-table before treatment., and3,31 after the different treatn: ent by level of significant 5% (2,76) and thedifferences are significant because students are more motivated in learning byusing ro'e play
