ABSTRACT Khikmah, Nur.2016: “The Use of Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) Method and Authentic Material toward Speaking Skill of the Second Grade Students of MA Mir’atulMuslimienNgambakrejo in the Academic Year 2015/2016”. Final Graduating Paper of English Education Department ofTeacher Training and Education Faculty (TTEF) State Institute for Islamic Studies.Counselor: Dr. H. Sa’adi, M. Ag. This research is aimed to improve the students’ speaking skill throughStudents Team Achievement Division (STAD) method and authentic material. This research analyzes how the procedure of uses STAD and authentic material to improve speaking skill. Whether the use of STAD and authentic material can improve speaking skill and how far the implementation of the students’ speaking skill at second grade of MA Mir’atulMuslimien 2015 through STAD. This research was conducted at MA Mir’atulMuslimien. Eighteen students of the second grade students of MAMir’atulMuslimien 2015 were instructed through STAD strategy and authentic material to improve their speaking skill. This research used classroom action research (CAR). In cycle I, there are 72.23% students passed the standardized score (KKM). It means the target of this research has not achieved yet because the target for students passing KKM is 75%. However, in cycle II, there are 77.78%students passing the KKM. This mean this research has been completed and shows that STAD can improve the students’ speaking skill. The result of the research, the researcher suggests that the English teacher could implement STAD and authentic material in teaching speaking. This technique can help the students to remember the information and the details of the text. In implementation of STAD strategy the students deepens their understanding in authentic text that has been read. Key Words: Speaking skill, STAD, Authentic material
