Abstract

The aims of this research are to find out whether snake and ladder games canimprove students' speaking ability, to know the strengths and weaknesses of theusing snake and ladder games to improve students' speaking ability, and todescribe procedure and plane of using and snake and ladder games in speakingclass.To find out the aims of research above, the writer tried to use snake and laddergames presentation mode in teaching learning process in E class seventh grade ofSMP N 9 Salatiga.Based on the finding of the research, the calculation of mean before the studentsuse snake and ladder game is 60.72 to 72.08, and the mean after the students usesnake and ladder games is 63.61 to 83.27. The significant difference betweenpretest and posttest are 13.31to37.13%.
