Abstract

TI1is research is aimed to develop students' academic writing achievementby reading English. Main questions will be answered in this research are (1) Whatis the profile of reading English intensity of the sixth semester students of EnglishDepartment of STAIN Salatiga? (2) What is the students' academic writingachievement of sixth semester students of English Department of STAINSalatiga? (3) What is the influence of reading English intensity toward students'academic writing achievement of sixth semester of English Department of STAINSalatiga?. From the result of the study which is conducted by the writer showedthat the students' reading English intensity gives a positive contribution to thestudents' academic writing ability. This is proved by the statistical analysis of thewriter to the collected data in this research. The result of data analysis showed thata high reading English intensity has significant influence for improving thestudents' ability in academic writing. However, a high reading English intensitywill contribute for having good achievement in academic writing.
