Counselor: Mrs Sari Famularsih, M.A. Keywords: Vocabulary Mastery, Mother May I Game, Classroom Action Research The research is about improving students’ vocabulary mastery by using Mother May I Game at the eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Ambarawa in the academic year of 2019/2020. The objectives of this research are (1) to know the use of Mother May I Game in improving students’ vocabulary mastery at the Eighth Grade Students of SMP N 4 Ambarawa in the academic year 2019/2020. (2) to find out the improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery after taught using Mother May I Game at the Eighth Grade Students of SMP N 4 Ambarawa in the academic year 2019/2020 (3) to know the students response after the use of Mother May I Game at the Eighth Grade Students of SMP N 4 Ambarawa in the academic year 2019/2020. The method of the research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). There were two cycles; each cycle consisted of four steps, they were planning, action, observation, and reflection. The technique of collecting data are observation checklist, test, and documentation. The subject of the study was VIII B class of SMP N 4 Ambarawa which consist of 25 students. The minimum passing grade for English lesson was 75. The result of the research shows that the use of Mother May I Game to improve students’ vocabulary mastery at the eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Ambarawa in the academic year of 2019/2020 was successful. The students who passed the minimum passing grade improved gradually from cycle 1 to cycle II. The mean of pre-test 1 score was 57.20 and the percentage of minimum passing grade was 32%. Cycle 1 shows that the mean of post-test score was 65.80 and the percentage of the minimum passing grade was 44%. Meanwhile, cycle II shows that the mean of pre-test was 72.80 and the percentage of minimum passing grade was 56% and the mean of post-test score was 80.60 with the percentage of minimum passing grade was 88%. The result of t-calculation in cycle 1 6.577 and in cycle II 8.177 is higher than t-table 2.064, it means that using Mother May I Game can significantly improve the students’ vocabulary mastery. The students gave good respond after the used of Mother May I Game in their English lesson. They felt easily to memorized vocabulary.
