Abstract

The objective of the research are: (1) To find out how is the implementation of the teaching using word list to improve students’ vocabulary of the eighth grade students of MTs Al Manar in academic year of 2019/2020. (2) To know how far the students understanding about the material through Word List Strategy to improve students’ vocabulary of the eighth grade students of MTs Al Manar in academic year of 2019/2020. The numbers of subject of the research are 20 students of VIIB of MTs Al Manar. The methodology of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research consisted of two cycles and each cycle consists of four steps, they were: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Data collected were qualitative but also supported by quantitative data. The quantitative data were gained through observation and documentation. Meanwhile, the quantitative data was collected from the test. The T-calculation result shows that T-calculation of cycle I is 8,658, and cycle II is 8,143. The improvement of the cycle I is 65% and in the cycle II is 70%. It means that there was an improvement as many as 5% from cycle I up to cycle II. This strategy can help students to remember the information and main idea of the text. This strategy can also help students in get many vocabulary. Based on the result, the researcher recommends using Word List Strategy was successful to improve students’ vocabulary.
