Abstract

ABSTRACT Hanafi, Ahmad. 2020. Improving Students' Writing Skills Using Flowchart at the Eleventh Grade Students of SMK Wikrama 1 Kab. Semarang in the Academic Year 2019/2020). A Graduating Paper.English Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Dr. Setia Rini, M.Pd. This research was conducted to improve the students' writing skills in procedure text using flowchart. The research consisted of two research questions which were how is the implementation of flowchart to improve students’ writing skillsin procedure text and how far is the students’ improvement in writing skills using flowchart. This research was designed as Classroom Action Research. The Researcher implemented the method in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting.According to the result of two cycles, the researcher concludes that the implementation of flowchart method can improve the students’ writing skills inprocedure text. The improvement was showed in each cycle which was presented in pre-test and post-test. The result of t-test of the cycle II was 4.261 which was higher than the t-table: 1.753 with N-1. The passing grade of the English lesson was 75 and the success indicator was 85%. The result of the post-test of the cycle IIshowed that87,5% of the students can pass the passing grades of English lesson. The observation checklist and documentation showed that the students feel enjoy to the implementation of flowchart method in procedure text. The researcher stop the cycle after the result passed the success indicator.However, the use of flowchart method was successful to improve the students’ writing skills in procedure text.
