Ningsih, Winarni Wahyu. 2020. Word Formation Analysis of Slang Language Used in Rich Brian’s Youtube Channel . A Graduating Paper Submitted To The Board Of Examiners As A Partial Fulfillment Of The Requirements For The Bachelor Degree Of Sarjana Pendidikan (S.Pd). State Institute For Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Faizal Risdianto, S.S., M.Hum. Slang is widely used by society especially in social media and people’s columns. But, not all people know the word formation process and the meaning of slang. Therefore, the researcher did this research to analyze the word formation process of slang language and to describe the meaning of each slang language. The subject of the research was comments of Rich Brian Youtube Channel. The methodology of this research was qualitative research. The research consisted of five steps, they were; reading, selecting, classifying, analyzing, and describing. The data analysis technique was used by the researcher is a agih method and padan method. The researcher used Yule’s theory to analyze the kind of word formation. While the researcher also used manual and online to describe the meaning of slang language. The researcher found four types of word formation processes in the comments. They were Acronym, Blending, Clipping, and Compounding. The most dominant type of word formation process is Clipping. There are 21 Acronym process, 19 Blending process, 40 Clipping process, and 6 Compounding process. The researcher also found the miscellaneous meaning of slang. Most of the meaning is swearing, vulgar, and rude words. The researcher concluded that slang is growing rapidly and most of them do not last for a long time. Therefore, people must follow the development to understand the meaning of slang. Key Words: Word Formation, Slang, Comments of Rich Brian’s Youtube Channel
