Abstract

Hastuti, Budi. 2020. The analysis of Conversational Maxim on WhatsApp Chat The purpose of this researh is to know the conversational maxim on the personal chatting on whatsapp. This research generally to answer the question types of conversation maxim which are in line and violation maxim and the most dominant maxim which is used on conversation during the chatting. The methodology of research was qualitative research. The techniques of collecting data was observationand documentation. The subject of observation was 2 students of eighth semester IAIN Salatiga. And documentation to find out the data for analysis. The writer find the types of conversational maxim occured in the personal chatting on WhatsApp. The conversational maxim were in line and violation during the chatting. There were 35 utterances which contained of conversational maxim which is consist of 14 types of in line maxim consist and 21 types of violation maxim. The total of violation maxim highest than in line of conversational maxim. And the most dominant maxim are in line quality maxim, violation quality maxim, and violation manner maxim. Key Words: Conversational Maxim, In Line Maxim, Violation Maxim, WhatsApp Application.
