Abstract

The primary aim of this study was to investigate and to explore the effectiveness and the effect size of using Climbing Grammar Mountain Game for he students in teaching simple past tense. Sample of this study was 74 students of VIII D and VIII E MTs. Yaspia Ngroto. This research used Experimental Design. VIII D class as the control group and VIII E class as the experimental group. Data was obtained through per-test and post-test. The analysis result explained that both of them had same competency in using simple past tense and mean of the experimental post-test is higher than the control group. It means that Climbing Grammar Mountain Game is effective for improving students‟ skill in using imple past tense.
