Abstract

In this study the writer chooses “Five Broken Cameras” movie, this movie is chosen to analyze the importance of national values as a part of our life. Nationalism is a concept or theory of loving nation-state based on citizens awareness. Especially, it represents collectively achieving, maintaining and dedicating identity, integrity, prosperity and strength of its nation. With nationalism, society can create harmonious life because nationalism has principles such as; unity, liberty, equality, individuality, and performance.There are two research problems proposed. First, what the nationalism values are presented by the movie and secondly what are the implications of “Five Broken Cameras” in nationalism education. The method of the study is qualitative study. It means that it does not need statistic approach to explore the material. In this paper the writer researches about national values in “Five Broken Cameras” movie. Qualitative research is a search of which the data written or oral word are descriptively analyzed. The primary data is taken from audiovisual (movie) and script from “Five Broken Cameras” movie. The secondary data is taken from many literary books and some relevant materials to support and complete the primary data sources. The result of this study compiles several national values in the “Five Broken Cameras” movie, for examples: the sacrifice value, the unity value, the pride of Palestinenationvalue.
