Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) To describe Circuit Learning (CL) Model implemented in improving the students’ writing skills in simple present tense. (2) To find of how far the percentage of the use of Circuit Learning (CL) Model in (3) To know what are the strengths and the weaknesses of Circuit Learning ( CL) model in Simple Present Tense. This research is Classroom Action Research ( CAR). It was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle concisted of four steps, they were planning, action, observation, and reflection. The researcher took a role as an observer who observed everything that happened in the class while the teacher performed CAR for the students. The number of the students in this research was 32 students. The researcher used pre-test, post-test, documentation, and observation checklist to collect the data. The strengh of circuit learning model that it helps students to get their own ideas and develop the using their own words and the weakness is it takes a relatively long time. The students who pass the passing grade improve gradually from the cycle I and the cycle II. The passing grade is 75. Circuit Learning Model (CL) to improve students writing skills was successfull. The result of pre-test and post-test cycle I was (62.06), (67.59). The result of pre-test and post-test cycle II (73.66),(81.53). The students’ skills in simple present tense in SMP N 9 Salatiga can improve. In cycle I, the T-test was 19.92 and the T-table is . than, in cycle II, The T-test was 15.73. the calculation of passing grade cycle I in pre-test was 0% increase to 53.12 %. In cycle II, pre-test was 62.5% and post-test was 87.5%.
