Abstract

Nisa, Izzatun. 2019.THE USE OF READERS THEATRE STRATEGY TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ READING SKILL(Classroom Action Research of Elevent Grade of SMK NU Suruh in the Academic Year of 2019/2020), A Graduating Paper, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, English Education Department, State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Salatiga. Counselor: Sari Famularsih, S.Pd.I., M.A. Readers Theatre involves people telling a story by reading aloud from scripts rather than by acting. Students develope greater understanding and enjoyment of literature or others subjects in the curriculum. By listening to and learningfrom each other, they find the rewards of working collegially. The teacher and the writer used Reader Theatre strategy to improve the students’ reading skill. The objectives of this research are (1) To know students’ ability before using Readers Theatre strategy to improve students’ reading skillofeleventh grade SMK NU Suruh, (2) To know the use of Readings Theatre strategy to improve students’ reading skillofeleventh grade SMK NU Suruh, (3)To find out the result of the study after using Reader Theatre strategy to improve students’ reading skill The research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. By the data analysis, it was showed that we found significant improvement. The result shows that the students’ writing ability improve significantly. The T-calculation shows that the T-calculation of cycle I is 3.71, and cycle II is 8.69. Thus, it can be concluded that there is significant improvement of students’ writing ability by using Readers Theatre strategy in XI TB (Tata Busana) Class of SMK NU 5 Suruh in the academic year of 2019/2020.
