Abstract

Speaking is the most important skill, because it is one of the abilities to carryout conversation. Speaking is an interactive process of constructing meaningthat involves producing, receiving, and processing information. Teachingspeaking is not an easy job. There are many kinds of material that taught in thesecond grade of junior high school, for example is genre. Genre BasedApproach can help the learners improve communicative competence. In genre,there are two cycles namely oral and written cycle. The aim is developing theability to use oral language. There are four procedures of teaching speaking byusing Genre- Based Approach. The procedures are Building Knowledge ofField (BKOF), Modelling of Text (MOT), Joint Construction of Text (JCOT)and Independent Construction of Text (ICOT). The objectives of the study isto describe the procedure of teaching speaking cycle by using Genre- basedApproach, kinds of the activity during the speaking cycle, the problems facedby the teacher. The data was taken by using descriptive qualitative. Theresearch will be conducted at Mrs N Boyolali on JI. Kemuning No. 32Boyolali, The subject of the research is the English teacher at MTs NBoyolali.
