An Error Analysis of Using Conjunction in Students’ Writing Cause and Effect Sentence (A Qualitative Research at the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Islam Sudirman Ambarawa in the Academic Year of 2019/2020). Counselor: Mrs. Sari Famularsih, S.Pd.I., M.A. The research was aimed to analyze the errors made by students in using conjunction in writing cause and effect sentence of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Islam Sudirman Ambarawa in the Academic Year of 2019/2020. The subject of this research consists of 35 students in XI IPS 1. The objectives of the study were (1) To describe the errors made by students. (2) To know the error percentages. (3) To know the most dominant error of using conjunction in writing cause and effect sentence at the eleventh grade students of SMA Islam Sudirman Ambarawa in the academic year of 2019/2020. This study used qualitative research, with descriptive method. The instruments of the research are test and documentation. The errors were collected, identified, and classified based on the Surface Structure Taxonomy by Dulay. It was specified by four types of errors namely omission, addition, misordering, and misformation. The researcher found that the eleventh grade students of SMA Islam Sudirman Ambarawa made some errors of using conjunction in writing cause and effect sentence. The data analysis showed that there were 34 errors in using conjunction, the errors as follow: 1) The number of omission errors are 5 items, 2) the number of addition errors are 5 items, 3) the number of misordering errors are 21 items, 4) the number of misordering errors are 3 items. The result showed that the most dominant errors made by students was Misformation ( 61.76%). The second was errors with the same percentage in Omission (14.70%) and Addition (14.70%). The lowest frequency of error was misordering (8.82%). Keywords: Error analysis, conjunction, cause and effect sentence.
