Counselor: Dr. Mashlihatul Umami, M.A. Keywords: Writing Skill, TGT, Classroom Action Research The objectives of the research were: (1) To find out the implementation of Teams-Games Tournament techniques to improve the students’ writing ability for the eighth grade of SMP N 2 Bandongan in the Academic Year 2019/2020. (2) To find out the significant improvement of use Teams Games Tournament technique to the students’ writing skill in descriptive text of the seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Bandongan in the Academic Year 2019/2020. (3) To find out to how far the use of Teams-Games Tournament technique to improve students’ writing ability for the seventh grade of SMP N 2 Bandongan in the Academic Year 2019/2020. The subject of the research consists of 26 students of SMP Negeri 2 Bandongan. The methodology of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). There were two cycles. Each cycle consist of four steps. They were planning, action, observing, reflecting. The data collected through observation, pre-test, post-test, and documentation. The result of the research shows that the score of pre-test cycle I is 63.80 and the percentage of minimum passing grade is 15.40%. Cycle I shows that the score of post-test is 71.15 with the percentage of minimum passing grade is 34.60%. Meanwhile, cycle II shows that the pre-test score is 74.70 and the percentage of minimum passing grade is 57.70% and the post-test score is 85.60 with the percentage of minimum passing grade is 92.30%. The result of T-test in cycle I (7.70) and cycle II (14.20) are higher than T-table (2.05).
