Abstract

ABSTRACT Ayunin, Amalia Qurrota. 2020. An Analysis on Form and Functions of Code Mixing found in Seller-Foreigner Interactions at Borobudur Temple. A Graduating Paper. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. English Education Department. State Institute for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Counselor: Norwanto, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph. D. Key Words: Sociolinguistics, Code Mixing, Bilingualism. The objectives of this research are to find forms and functions code mixing used in seller-foreigner interaction at Borobudur Temple. The research was conducted on July 16th 2019 until August 18th 2019. In this research, the researcher used a qualitative research. The technique of collecting data was observation, interview and document. The researcher used document in the form of picture and recording. After conducting the research, the researcher found five types of code mixing from the conversation: 3 data of inserting English to Indonesian utterances, 11 data of inserting Indonesian to English utterances, 22 data of inserting Javanese to English utterances, 1 data of inserting Javanese to Indonesian utterances, and 2 data of inserting Indonesian to Javanese utterances. The researcher also found the social functions of code mixing, such as: one data as solidarity, 7 data to say something twice, 1 data to soften and strengthen request command, and 1 data as lexical need.
